I got a call from Dad Wednesday night that Margaret was about to go back to the hospital because of severe pain & swelling in her left ankle and swelling toes. She thought that it might be a blod clot. After 911 delivered her to the hospital, x-ray showed no clot, the ER surmised that it was possibly an infection and sent her home with antibotics after 1:00 last night. I'm glad that she's got her 2 week check up with the surgeon today at 2:30. She has canceled her trip to Hickory until she's better. I personally don't think the doctor would have OKed it anyway, especially since the bleeding episode.
Unless timing is better for someone else to help out, I'll be going to Margaret's this weekend to assist Gene. I'm open the month of February since it's not my month to teach SS. Care and love to all! PS Isn't it sad that Captain Kangaroo died last week? I wonder how Mr. Moose took his death and if their was a ping pong episode at the funeral?

I'm finally blogging. I thought I was ready this time because I had been throught it before, but it's not the same. With the bleeding and my visit to the ER, it was such a fluke and no one knows why, I'm afraid it mght happen again. I took the pressure bandage off Monday and so far so good about the bleeding, but I have been in lots of pain. I'm not sure how many of you remember that the last time, I said that I was never in pain. I have had shooting pains in the incision and today I have had lots of pain not in the incision, but on the top of my foot and around my ankle. I was concerned that it might be a blood clot, but the Doctor said that usually if you have a clot, it's in the calf. I'm about to lose my power so I'll close now.

Spent a couple of days at Margaret's last week. She seems to be doing well even though she is under some stress. Lol came up on Friday but had to return home on Saturday because of the predicted weather conditions. Things are still up in the air about Margaret going to Hickory as she does not have her doctor's permission as of yet.
Seems that the bleeding incident was some kind of "fluke" (Margaret's word). Her blood thickness was within normal range. Hopefully it won't happen again though. They kept her in the ER till around 3:30. She didn't get to see her orthopedic surgeon, only the ER doctors. I think we are all getting an education in the way that medicine works nowadays. All the shots seemed to be called by the insurance companies.
Barry has quit Nando as of Sunday. He went full time at Kinkos and is liking it much better so far. Enjoys the people that he is working with and also the normal hours.
Enjoyed a visit from Cathy and Jeremy this weekend. Ed, Jeremy and Cathy installed side steps on Jeremy's truck. She sold her old Honda last week. Hopefully the new owner will get as good service from it as she did.
Ben, hope that your birthday was a good one. Did you get your birthday message from Margaret, Lol and I? You should have seen the look on Gene's face when he came in to see what in the world was going on.
Everyone, take it easy in the snow and ice.

A Day at Home
Hope the snowy, icy weather hasn't made your days lately too uncomfortable. Talked to Dad this morning and he's staying in and warm. Christie had a vacation in the snow this weekend in the mountains of VA. Ashley and Corey skied, Christie and Emma played in the snow, (Emma loved the snow) and poor Shawn, stayed in with a "bug". All is well here and I got a day home from school! I've been having parent conferences at school lately, (1 @ day), so I've been working a little longer each day.
Still enjoying 5 day preschool and Hannah at Cherry Welding. Amber is enjoying getting off the bus at Cherry Welding. Hannah and Jason are still working on their home, new vinyl siding begins this week, Clay's ceiling, redoing bathroom, but with Jason working his regular 12 hour days, it's been a slow go. Twelve hour days, at least 5 days a week, sometimes, 6 or 7, really exhaustes your steam, I'm sure. Hope all is well with everyone! Love, Bertha
