Dad
Dad recovering quickly -- walked around the hall Tuesday, finally took a smoke break Wednesday and has undoubtedly taken several more since. Expects to go home Friday.

Dad's surgery
An update on Dad -- after five hours of surgery yesterday, the tumor was removed successfully and Dad's plumbing was reattached. He spent most of yesterday evening asleep but he's been up today -- Mom says he hurts from the operation. She says they now have twin scars, his matching her C-section scar. Doctors haven't said how long he'll have to stay at the hospital -- typically after this surgery, patients take about six days before going home. In the meantime, Mom should pick up at 919-966-1842 -- you can write at:

Joyce and Ed, you know that you are in prayers in Hickory, Elizabeth City, Norfolk and a lot of other places. These are the ones that I know for certain. We'll think positive. What more can I say. Chris is at home. Michelle has more back problems and with the medication, she needs his help. Keep her in your prayers also. Margaret

Just thought I would send a update of Ed's surgery. We are planning to stay in Chapel Hill tonight so that we won't have to make that drive tomorrow morning. Ed seems to be sleeping well and I think he is as mentally prepared for the surgery as he can be considering what is facing him. We'll try to let you know how things are going as soon as possible but don't know when that will be. We have to be there at 8:00 Monday morning and the surgery is scheduled for 10. They say he will be in surgery for 4-5 hours so don't know how long it will be before we will see him and we can't use cell phones inside the hospital.
Thanks for all the prayers.
Love, Joyce
