I went to see Cayden today and he is sooo cute, too cute to be a boy. I also enjoyed being with Emma. She is growing so fast and has just come out so much. I really enjoy her. I took Dad and Joan out to eat. Howie, I'll make sure that Dad sees the movie. I'm going to bed. Goodnight.

Cayden - One day old.

I thought his mouth look like a "Venters", his nose like Christie's and Ashley's, and Christie said his eyes look like Jeff's (he didn't open them while I was there). He has a good amount of dark hair. He's a fine looking boy!

Camping??

Has anyone thought any about camping this year? The reason I ask, we are planning a small get-a-way the first wkend of October to see THOMAS the train.

Good to hear that Barry has several friends in NYC.

I assume that Ashley will be in Chowan Hospital because Christie will be dropping Emma off at my house about 6:45 tomorrow morning. We'll stay in touch. It's Amber last day of summer, so she will also be spending it with me. We're going to the Goose Nest for a while in the morning.

Did I mention that Rick has 8 chickens, one rooster, seven hens? On Tuesday, he got five eggs, the most yet!

NYC

Everything's well so far -- drove up yesterday, got rerouted at the Holland Tunnel (who'd figure a 10-foot U-Haul was a commercial vehicle?), spent an hour trying to get to the Lincoln Tunnel, emerged from the tunnel into the heart of Manhattan, tourists and taxis on all sides of me. Finally made it to the storage place where I dumped my stuff (will get it next month after I find an apartment), finished up about two minutes before they locked up. Left the truck near the closed U-Haul return spot, went for beer with two friends from high school. Afterward, a Chinese place was nice enough to whip up some pork-fried rice even though they'd already closed, more or less (it was after 11:30 at this point). Went back to the U-Haul place this morning (no parking ticket!) to finalize the paperwork, then got up with another friend (Kurt, best man in my wedding) for lunch. Having a great time so far -- guess I'll start looking for work now. Thanks for your prayers and well-wishes as I get settled.

Baby on the way!!

Just to let everyone know!

Tomorrow, 08/24/06, is Ashley's original due date. We are to be at the hospital at 7:15 a.m. to have labor semi-induced. She has been dilated to 3 cm for about 3-4 weeks and no changes. She had a doctors visit yesterday and they told her to pick a day, Thursday or Friday, to deliver. She chose Thursday b/c of her doc being on call. They are going to break her water and see if that will encourage her cervix to dilate (my words). Hopefully this will work. If not, the other doc suggested that she be given Potocin (sp?) to bring on contractions and given an epidural (sp. again?) She said she did not want an epidural. I asked her if the reason they decided to do this was b/c they were anticipating problems and she said no. I'm not sure why the rush to make her go into labor then!?!?!? The baby will be born when it's ready. Anyway, everybody please keep her and baby in your prayers and I'll keep you posted. Why is everybody in such a rush these days?????? Don't they normally do this when you've gone past your due date?

Harvest time! Clay and the carrots got a bath!
Wish you the best, Barry! People are people wherever you go. There are good, nice, silly, crazy, mean, insane, etc. people in Edenton, Raleigh, and NYC. Our job is to just be the best we can be, wherever we go. Good luck, I have every confidence that you'll BLOOM wherever you're planted! Remember that you're taking the LOVE of the Byrum clan with you.
