Well, it seems like y'all got the "better" weather; I don't mind the cold if I can get snow out of it. However, down here we don't get snow, just cold rain. Thurs and Friday went to a Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training (MERRTT) class offered by Ga Emergency Mgt. Agency (GEMA) class in Forsyth about 20+minutes north of here. About half my class were firefighters from across the state. Half the Ga State Patrol must have been at the Training Center those days. Anyway, met a former chemical drill sgt who works for Federal EMA and she told me to e-mail her my resume. She said she'd pass it along to a few contractors they work with "who owe [her] favors". Also met a chemist from an EPA contractor based out of Tampa, FL, but have an Atlantat office. So, hopefully this networking will pay off. If nothing else, my resume is improving with the added training. Heck, it's free (minus gas and buying lunch) and I've got time on my hands. But, soon I won't have as much free time because I'll be playing "Mr Mom". Michelle starts work at a dermatologists office on the 9th, I believe. She's excited about going back to work and I don't mind holding down the fort for a little while. She's done it for the past 5 years. I just hope I can come close to doing as good of a job as she has. I promise- no grill cheeses made with the iron and no drying baby butts with the hand dryer in a restroom. Ha! Ha! Plus, it'll give me time to work on projects around here.
Just finished redoing Beverly's living room, repainting the ceiling white, blue for the bottom half of the walls and a combo of 2 blues with that "faux finish" or whatever where you use 2 sponge-type rollers with the 2 paints at the same time. It looks real good. Plus, we put up a chair rail dissecting the 2 and crown molding along the ceiling. Anyone who remembers the way it looked before won't recognize it. It gave me an excuse to buy a mitre saw (to mitre the corner ends of the chair rail and molding)- an early Valentine's day present from Chelle. Michelle and I (well mostly Michelle) redid the downstairs bathroom, patching a few cracks in the ceiling, sanding them and repainting the bathroom an off-white/beige and green. The colors look good together, and much better than they sound. We took out the big mirror, put in a smaller round mirror and fishing net around it over the sink, sticking with the nautical/seashore theme we had at our place at Ft Stewart. We moved from the guest room upstairs to the room downstairs. The stairs are getting tough on Michelle's knees and hips. After a couple of weeks, we're redoing our bedroom. We needed a break. Had a garage sale yesterday with our friend Amy (whose husband is a civilian electrician working in Afghanistan) and Michelle/I and Amy each made $140-$150 each household. Michelle used ours to buy scrubs for work. Plus, Amy sold her car and Beverly sold the Caprice today. Things are going well you might say.
WEll, I've blogged long enough. Need to go search the vast wasteland of the basement for the box with our bathroom stuff from Ft Stewart. Hope everyone's doing well. Hoping we can come up to Va for Spring Break. Will have to run it past Chelle first. I miss everybody. Love you guys.
