The Big One
Hi Folks! I'm not going camping either! Having the Blanchards over for a Mother's Day supper Fish fry is what I feel it "right" for me to do. Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard will appreciate that. Rick sold his small boat and purchased one just a bit bigger. When Rick and I got in the first one, we were over the suggested safe weight limit. Went fishing Saturday morning in the Rocky Hock Creek, just down the road toward Mama Layton's house. Had a good time. I caught two small raccoon perch, but Rick hit the jackpot! We were fishing with cane poles and Rick caught a 24" catfish, a 18" Bass and a two speckled perch. But...the big one got away, No Really! He hooked a Big mouth Bass that was bigger that the catfish. It bent that cane pole almost double. Rick didn't try to bring him in, just waited for him to tire out. He came up to the surface several times and we were able to see him. Our eyes just bulged as Rick shouted, "Get the net". Finally, he was tiring and came to the surface. Just as I was beginning to get ready to scoop him with the net, he came to the surface and made a flip and broke the hook, not the line, the hook. Two hours later, Rick was still shaking his head, saying, "I can't believe it!" Fish were great Saturday night!
