I also thought I'd share an email from Howie: "Speaking of which, we painted Amber’s room yesterday evening and spent the morning putting plastic under the house. I spent almost 3 hours on the riding mower today just cutting the back yard. I used the push mower on Friday to cut the front so I could mulch the leaves. Have I mentioned we have 3 pecan trees and they are shedding leaves worse than our dogs shed hair." I know he loved the yard, but I can't imagine having to take that much time to mow the grass. I think someone had a good idea. He'll need to buy some goats. Can't wait to see the house this weekend. Margaret

Ed said after trying to mow the church's ground with a riding mower, that Howard was definitely going to have to invest in a tractor unless he has plenty of free time. Maybe he could get one of those riding mowers that look like they are flying when they are cutting. I love to watch them maneuver.
I think I could stand the mowing...it's the raking that I couldn't take. Jeremy and I bought a leaf blower last weekend. Hopefully, it will cut down on our raking.
Speaking from experience, mulching with the lawn mower is the way to go. While on Gliden Road, we mowed every week or so until late Nov. or early December, then we mowed in a pattern that would "row" the leaves up and then rake and put them in the trailer to put down the hill and burn. Margaret remembers since she helped on one occasion. She'll testify that it was quite a job!
