Portsmouth Island

We saw a tombstone on Portsmouth Island that said, "How desotate our home breft of thee". Evidently spelling wasn't all that important, or either they were a poor speller like me and there was no spell check. Couldn't find desotate or breft in the dictionary, but bereft means "deprived or robbed of". So I guess that desotate is desolate. Now this makes since, "How desolate our home bereft of thee" I guess that's how we felt when Mom and Gloria left us. Amen.
