Granddaddy

Since everyone is posting on Granddaddy, I thought I'd add a grandchild's perspective. I'd love to see my cousins' stories too.
My memories of our visits were mostly down on the farm. We'd drop Howie off at the edge of the woods with the .22 rifle and I'd ride around the farm with Granddaddy and feed the animals. The back seat floor and bed of the truck always had all kinds of junk in it; it was definitely a work truck. I remember going out to the pump and Granddaddy getting a bucket of water. Then he'd pour the water down one of the rat holes in the pig area and Howie would shoot the rats as they came running out of the other holes. I also remember playing the goats and even trying to ride the male goat. As much as I hear told about my bareback hog rides, I really don't remember them.
I do remember one spring or summer going with Granddaddy to pick up some pigs. We got a handful of adults and a few piglets. One pig had gotten his head stuck in between a couple of boards and made such a horrible sounds. I ran all the way up the dirt drive to the road. Howie came out later and got me. I remember my cousins and I getting in the trailer and playing with the piglets later on in the day.
I'm surprised noone said anything about hog slaughtering days. We used to go out and lasso the hogs, but weren't allowed to lasso them on the day before because the adults didn't want us spooking them. Does anyone else remember playing with the bladders with pike sticks? Hahaha
How about shelling peas or snapping beans and watching Hee Haw?
